It did not take long for the weather to become serious. I have studied and read about the weather on Mt Washington for years. I knew full well of the dangers. more people have died on Mt washington than any other mountain in the USA. that is why i was so afraid. how much harder was the wind going to blow, 80mph 100mph 150mph??? It could happen! This was all i could think about? it kept repeating in my mind! The roaring wind was like nothing I had ever heard or felt before. It was coming on strong. it was below zero and the windchills were going off the charts. i could hear the depths of hell roaring in the darkness all around us. Would we make it? For the first time in my climbing life i was not sure! We were in the unknown. This video marks the last time I stopped to take out my phone to take a picture or a video. The rest of the night was about survival.and making it to the trees! Jay took one more short video after dark and the rest of the time we ran for our lives!

Dont mess with Mt Washington and the Presitential Range in any season. Wait for the right days when the weather is good. We did not wait and it almost cost us the ultimate price. It is NOT worth it! Be safe!

I love this video! I mean i love this video! This video is the most scared I have ever been in the mountains.. The temperature was below zero and the wind was reaching hurricane force. It was COLD! It became an EPIC battle pushing against the wind to keep moving, while still staying on your feet. Thanks Jay for this video.! After dark the wind just kept blowing harder and harder as we went. Finally reaching the tree line was a victory in itself and one i will cherish forever. Good to be alive. Glad the evil man eating winds of Mt Washington let us live for another day! victory ours, by the skin of our teeth!
