It took me 2 tries to get the Winter Pemi! This day Jay whitbourne and myself just had to turn back! The storm got worse as the day went, the snow was too deep, and it was too cold. We chose life and decided to turn back on Mt Lafayette. The following Winter I returned for another try in better conditions. So very much exposure on the Pemi! This day was a storm. We should have stayed home! Wait for it! Crank it up!!
The Franconia Ridge in New Hampshire is legendary! In the winter it is epic! The Pemi loop is an amazing experience in the Winter!
Mt Lafayette is the highest point on the Pemi loop and marks the top of the Franconia Ridge. It is a wonderful place to be on earth!
A wind blown ridge with a little ice made the Franconia Ridge and the top of the Garfield Ridge a dream on this day
The views from the Garfield Ridge were amazing on this day! From Vermont to Mt Washington
The Garfield Ridge makes a Winter Pemi hard because no one goes there in the Winter. It is rarely broken out unlike much of the Pemi!
Our Winter pemi finish in Lincoln woods at the bridge. Doug Duncan Michael Baker and Douglas Ryan Waterman. 19 hours and 20 minutes Mike says! One more left for the Gold Patch for ME! The Mahoosuc!
