WELCOME TO THE NORTH EAST ULTRA 8

The North East Ultra 8 Hikes, have been around for a long time.

Each NEU8 hike is an epic and legendary challenge on its own!

Doing just one, of these INCREDIBLE hikes, in under 24 hours, is an Epic accomplishment, for any hiker.

Put these 8 hikes together,  and they create a list, LIKE NONE OTHER, in the hiking community!

Each of the 8 Ultra hikes, has its different time of origin, but other than the newly formed Saranac Ultra, that involves climbing 6 different mountains, the other 7 NEU8 hikes involve a single, natural land formation, or body of water. These natural land formations, ridges, and lakes, have existed for Tens of Thousands of years. This challenge, has really existed, for a long, long, time. 

The North East 8 hikes are nothing new. 

However, receiving a patch, if you can hike all 8, each in under 24 hours, is something new! THE NEU8 came about on, 4/12/2017.

From here on out, hiking in the North East is about to become, a NEXT LEVEL,  ULTRA CHALLENGE!

Traditionally the North East Ultra 8 mails out finishing packages ONCE A YEAR in the first week of December in an attempt to keep finishers in order based on finishing dates. It has worked perfect so far!

          This means if you have finished the North East Ultra 8 this calendar year, 2021, YOU ARE NOT TOO LATE to click the registration button and apply. In fact, you are right on time!

3 MORE PATCHES:  

    Three of the North East Ultra 8 hikes, have their own, long standing clubs, each rewards their finishers, with a patch and certificate, for doing just that one hike! A testament, to how hard each one of these hikes are to complete, let alone in under 24 hours! The TCT, The CL50, and The Saranac 6, each have a patch available for those who complete those individual hikes. If interested you may contact each of those organizations, after completing each hike, to apply for their patch.

 PETS: 

    Here at the North East Ultra 8, pets are human to us!! Unbelievably our first ever North East Ultra 8 finisher, and Gold Finisher, is a dog named “Cole”. What a super star Cole is! We recognize pets as just another hiker. They will be assigned an official finishing number just as any human!! Pets should be registered, like any other human, following the registration process!  

Which hike is the hardest?

  The list below, of the Official  8 NEU8 hikes are listed in order of hardest to easiest, top to bottom, the Mahoosuc being the hardest, the Devils Path being the easiest. This is an opinion, based on the opinions of the top 10 NEU8 finishers. This is just an attempt, to help those, who are beginning this challenge. We advise starting with the easiest and working to the harder ones.
